Summer Success Program

NCS' Summer Success Program is designed to prevent students from experiencing what is known as the "summer slide". In partnership with Newport Public Schools, students participate in a range of academic and enrichment programming for four weeks in the summer to supplement their learning from the previous school year and prepare them for the next one. Students are invited to this program on a referral basis.

Moving On Up

This one week summer program assists students in preparing to enter grade 6. Students are introduced to their new schedule of classes and given some helpful tips to ease anxiety as they enter the upper grades of TMS and become more independent learners as they do so. At the end of the week students participate in a field trip and are given a backpack full of school supplies for the new year. Look out for sign ups for this program to begin in the Spring!

Thompson 101

This program takes place for one week during the summer to help students prepare as they transition to grade 5 at Thompson Middle School. NCS in partnership with TMS assists in the preparation of entering a new school by introducing them to TMS teachers, practicing combination locks, and much more. The week ends with a parent luncheon and students are given a backpack full of school supplies for the new year. Sign ups for this program take place in the spring and early summer!
